The Science

H₂ is the smallest molecule in nature (2.016 g/mol), so it rapidly diffuses across cell membranes, into mitochondria, nuclei, and even the stratum corneum of skin.
Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is a highly selective antioxidant. Unlike broad-spectrum antioxidants (e.g., vitamin C or E), it only neutralises the most cytotoxic and damaging reactive oxygen species (ROS) — mainly the hydroxyl radical (•OH) and peroxynitrite (ONOO⁻) — while leaving beneficial ROS untouched. These beneficial species are essential for cell signalling, immune defence, and redox balance.
